The province of Utrecht boasts the highest-educated labor force in the country; 43% of the working population has a higher professional education or academic degree. Utrecht-based professionals are also among the most multilingual in the world. While 91% of the Dutch population speaks at least one foreign language, 77% of Utrecht’s population speaks at least two.

Utrecht University

Utrecht University is one of Europe’s leading research universities, recognized for its high quality in both research and teaching. Utrecht University is ranked no. 1 in the Netherlands, on Shanghai’s Jiao Tong University Academic Ranking of World Universities (2011), 12th in Europe and 48th in the world.

Utrecht University houses the only veterinary faculty in the Netherlands. This is the largest veterinary faculty in Western Europe and has excellent animal research facilities for cardiovascular research.
